The NuBee Covers Kit includes everything you need to make a full hive out of a bee box or two.

A Telescoping Top Cover is used to keep the heat in and guard your bees from the rain and snow. The galvanized steel cap helps resist the rust.

An Inner Cover allows your hive to have a bit of a loft and is easy to pry off. Also has an oval center cut out to be able to use an oval bee escape.

The Oval Bee Escape will fit into the Inner Cover. Using a bee escape allows you to painlessly clear a box of bees so that you can harvest the box with ease and without harming them. To learn more about Oval Bee Escapes you can read our blog: How Do I Use an Oval Bee Escape?

A Queen Excluder prevents the queen from laying eggs everywhere. Using this will keep the queen in her brood chamber so your honey will be egg free. To learn more about Queen Excluders you can read our blog: What Good Are Queen Excluders?

The Solid Bottom Board reroutes the wind from coming up into the hive. Also it's the last line of defense between your hive and the open world below. It prevents unwanted pests from effecting your hive.

An Entrance Reducer fits on to the Bottom Board and allows you to have full control of how large the entrance is. You can rotate the entrance reducer to enlarge the entrance when your colony grows stronger.

Why Choose an 8 Frame Hive?

The major benefit of an 8 frame hive is that it weighs 20% less than a 8 frame hive. Honey is heavy. A 8 frame brood box that is full of honey can weigh up to 90 lbs while medium boxes can weigh up to 60lbs. A 20% difference can save your back.

Why Choose NuBee Hives?

From day one NuBee has sought to lower barriers that prevent people from picking up the veil and becoming a backyard beekeeper. With this goal in mind, NuBee originally focused on developing an 8 frame hive that would be as light and durable as possible, at an honest price.

Since then NuBee has grown into 10 frame beehives and are now a favorite first hive among beekeepers. Their balance between high quality and affordability is second to none. They continue to delight customers with their attention to detail at such a great price. Every joint has been cut using dovetails to ensure a perfectly square hive.

NuBee uses a combination of Fir and Pine to produce treasures that will last for years to come. The craftsmanship is noteworthy and their hive parts are cut using the same industry standard dimensions that all other Langstroth beehive brands are made with. 10 frame parts are not compatible with 8 frame parts and vice versa.

These days, NuBee continues to lower barriers by dedicating its extra time to teaching beekeepers how to start successful apiaries. They are not only equipping you with the right tools, but are focusing on equipping you with the right knowledge on how to use them.

Shipping & Delivery

Our beehives leave the warehouse in mint condition. In transit wooden beehives can become damaged.

We ship out your beehives out during business hours -- we typically ship within 24 hours of when the order was placed. In some cases we do ship your product out on the same day you order it, but if not, you can expect it to be shipped on the following day.

Please note that if you are ordering an assembled product, this may take a little more time.

We use both FedEx and UPS to ship our products, whichever is faster. We ship from central Ohio and on average products take 1 to 4 days to reach your house.

We try our very best to get your beehives to you as fast as possible.

Depending on your order, at times our beehives can be too large to ship in just one package. For your convenience, we will split large orders into multiple boxes that are easy to carry and less accident prone.

Although all of your packages will have left our facility at the same time, please do not be surprised if they do not arrive at the same time. Shipping companies can sometimes be unpredictable, but rest assured your packages will be there soon. Please check your confirmation email for your tracking number(s).

Please order and assemble your hive well in advanced to the arrival of your bees so you know there will be no issues. Poor planning on your part does not render an emergency on ours.

To qualify for free shipping, you must purchase $50 or more in products and live within the continental United States. If your order doesn't quite hit the $50 mark, we have a number of low cost accessories that can be added to your order. As a benefit to you, we also give deep discounts for purchasing in quantities of 2+, 5+, or 10+ of a product so that you can easily meet the $50 minimum on free shipping.
