Hoover Hives are known for their beautiful and skillfully crafted wax coated beehives.
Every exterior hive part that may encounter rain or snow has been built with Fir wood and has been coated in 100% natural beeswax to help weather the elements.
They’ve thoughtfully chosen to use Fir wood over the traditional Pine because Fir has a tighter knit grain-flow within the wood than Pine does. This makes their exterior parts far more durable and less likely to shrink, expand, warp, or twist from the rain.
Once they’ve cut the wood, they dip each part into a pool of natural beeswax. They allow the beeswax to be soaked into the hive parts. This not only protects the wood, but is also what gives their hives their natural golden honey lustrous allure.
Hoover Hives 10 & 8 frame hive parts use dimensions that are consistent with the industry standard and are interchangeable with all other Langstroth 10 & 8 frame beehives.
In the pursuit of discovering durably crafted Amish made beehives, Busy Bees ‘N’ More traveled the countryside of Ohio for just the right woodworkers.
Throughout American history the Amish have built their name to be akin to authentic artisanship. They’ve stood the test of time and passed on their genuine expertise from generation to generation. Now known for their high-quality woodwork, the Amish create meticulously crafted works of art.
In today’s marketplace, you’d be hard-pressed to find products that have the integrity, precision, and long-lasting value that the Amish provide. Instead, you’ll find the market has run rampant with cheap imported products that have been made to sell, not to be used.
These hives are made in the USA from Eastern White Pine that were once sourced for creating log cabins and housing the pioneers of America -- the Amish now use it to house your bees. Regionally and responsibly sourced from Michigan and Pennsylvania, we guarantee your new beehive’s lumber has been quality checked and will be a beautiful showpiece in your yard for years to come.
From day one NuBee has sought to lower barriers that prevent people from picking up the veil and becoming a backyard beekeeper. With this goal in mind, NuBee originally focused on developing an 8 frame hive that would be as light and durable as possible, at an honest price.
Since then NuBee has grown into 10 frame beehives and are now a favorite first hive among beekeepers. Their balance between high quality and affordability is second to none. They continue to delight customers with their attention to detail at such a great price. Every joint has been cut using dovetails to ensure a perfectly square hive.
NuBee uses a combination of Fir and Pine to produce treasures that will last for years to come. The craftsmanship is noteworthy and their hive parts are cut using the same industry standard dimensions that all other Langstroth beehive brands are made with. This means every one of their parts are interchangeable with any other 10 or 8 frame beehive parts you may already have.
These days, NuBee continues to lower barriers by dedicating its extra time to teaching beekeepers how to start successful apiaries. They are not only equipping you with the right tools, but are focusing on equipping you with the right knowledge on how to use them.
